Campground in Washington
Nestled at the edge of the historic Franklin ghost town, the Green River Gorge Resort is a hidden gem offering a blend of natural beauty and historical exploration. Known for its pristine spring water filling station, this location has been a trusted source of drinking water since the early 1800s. Today, visitors come from all over Western Washington to fill their water jugs and enjoy the unique scenery of the Green River Gorge.
The newly relocated spring water filling station now features expanded parking, making it easier for travelers to visit. The same parking lot also serves as the starting point for the Green River Gorge Wilderness Trail, which leads adventurers on a scenic journey through the gorge, between towering cliffs, and down to a stunning waterfall. The trailhead is located at the east end of the 150-foot high 1916 highway bridge that spans the gorge, offering breathtaking views.
For history buffs, the other side of the bridge provides access to additional trails that lead to the old Franklin ghost town, where you can explore a historic cemetery and descend into a 1599-foot mine shaft. Whether you’re here to collect the pure spring water, hike the gorge, or delve into the past, Green River Gorge Resort offers a unique blend of recreation and history that’s not to be missed.
