The community is located within Putnam Township along Patterson Lake Road (D-32) about 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Ann Arbor and three miles (4.8 km) southwest of Pinckney. As an unincorporated community, Hell has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own and is served by the Pinckney 48169 ZIP Code.
